We welcome our parents, carers, grandparents and community to help support us in providing the students with a rich, dynamic learning environment. We value people’s contributions, however big or small.
There are many ways to get involved — from becoming a classroom helper, a regular working bee volunteer, joining our Parents and Friends Association or School Council, helping out with our school productions, to attending showcase evenings and open day sessions.
The School Council plays a key role in all Victorian state schools. The Council contributes to the broad direction and vision of the school, develops and reviews school policies, maintains the school’s grounds and buildings, and helps to promote interest in the school within the wider community.
Being a member of School Council is a rewarding and challenging experience. As part of a team, Council supports the Principal and represents the school community in providing the best possible educational outcomes for students. The School Council consists of 15 elected members — parents and staff, including the Principal. Elections for Council positions are held in February each year, and the names of those elected are published in the newsletter.
Please contact a Council member if you have an issue you would like discussed. There is an open invitation to all parents to attend School Council meetings as a visitor at any time.
The Parents & Friends Association (PFA) at Templestowe Valley Primary School is dedicated to bringing the school community together and providing opportunities for families to connect. We do this through a series of events and fundraising activities throughout the year.
The PFA meets monthly but there is no requirement to attend every meeting. We understand how busy life can be and welcome anyone who can help throughout the year. There are many ways to contribute, both during and after school hours.
Notification of meeting dates is posted in the school newsletter and Compass App.
Some of the fundraising and community events include:
Everyone is welcome to join the PFA at any time. It’s a great way to meet other parents and have a laugh. If you’re interested in attending a meeting or supporting in other ways, please contact us through the school office or your classroom teacher.
TVPS holds six working bees a year to help with grounds projects and maintenance of our school environment. We welcome all assistance — from moving tanbark to painting, cleaning, and repairs.
We’re also open to sponsorship opportunities ranging from advertising in our school newsletter, The Valley Views, to sponsoring school events such as our production. If you’re interested in forming a partnership with TVPS, please contact our school office on 03 8850 5777.
Volunteers are required to provide a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure we meet our legal obligations and protect our students.
